Rest in peace Shelly and Hermie. We also lost a tree in the backyard. But that loss isn't as tough for the kids. Actually, I think Josh is more upset about the loss of the hermit crabs than the kids are. They were his "babies".
Things we discovered from the loss of electricity and heat:
BUndling up on the couch together is even cosier when you are doing it for heat.
It's possible to read all the Christmas books we own in about hour's time.
You cannot have a kick fight on the couch without knocking over cups on the coffee table.
I really do not like playing monopoly. Really.
The young player's edition of Trivial Pursuit is woefully outdated. And way too hard for my kids.
Gameboys only hold a charge for 4 hours of continuous play and the girls don't like Charlie to move on to theirs on "principle."
We also learned that Katrina's bed fits in our room next to our bed and the wall. And 5 people sleeping in that close proximity puts off a ton of heat.
We are alive though and still love each other. So that's all that really matters.
